Jeanie Marie Buss has been an American entrepreneur for over 20 years. She is currently the president as the president of Los Angeles Lakers, the National Basketball Association's controlling owners. Buss is a native of California and was raised as part of a wealthy family. Jerry Buss was her father. Jerry Buss started out as a realty tycoon, and then later owned the Lakers. The emotional strain she felt was exacerbated when her parents separated in 1972. As a 19-year-old she was able to take over her role as General Manager of the Los Angeles Strings professional Tennis team as the General Manager. The team was later renamed in the Los Angeles Blades, a professional roller-hockey team. She was president of the Great Western Forum, before becoming Vice President of the Lakers. Buss' father died in 2013, as did the Lakers were inherited from him by her and five of her siblings via an inheritance trust. Every sibling was entitled to the same number of votes.
