Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens, better called Queen Latifah in America, is a performer and actress. Queen Latifah is an American actor, rapper and singer. Queen Latifah is an Newark New Jersey native. Her parents were Lancelot Sr. as a police officer as well as Rita who was a teacher of Irvington High School. Her parents divorced around the age of 10. Latifah was born and was raised within Newark New Jersey attended Catholic school in Newark. Latifah means gentle and very generous. Her cousin gave it to her when she was aged eight. Latifah has always been tall and tall. Standing 5'10", she was the center forward on her high school basketball team. In a school production, she performed Home from The Wiz. Latifah started to beatbox for Ladies Fresh. Latifah was a part of in the Flavor Unit in its original form, which consisted of a team of MCs and DJ Mark The 45 King. Mark James aka the DJ Mark the 40 King recorded an audition for the rapper Princess of the Posse by Queen Latifah. The recording was sent to Yo! MTV Raps Freddy. Dante Ross of Tommy Boy Music was interested by the tune. He signed Latifah and then released her first single Wrath of My Madness in 1988.
